"Hey Ruud! I wasn't able to attend any of the EventCamp in Twin Cities...any chance you can share the results of this experiment? I contributed the day you posted this, was super excited to see what the plan and results were :) Thanks in advance!! Your everlasting fan, The AVGirl"

"@Chris Now that's some rock star advice! Love the timing, culture convenience idea. But I don't know if it's a good idea for speakers to start distributing renegade surveys that competes with the show organizer's attempts to collect surveys. If I was a planner, I might be kind of annoyed. @Traci AWESOME that you're sharing the survey results publicly. That is SOOOO cool :)..."

"I encourage you to look at the advice from Tradeshow Internet on this. The venue is not allowed to dictate what you provide on your own network. It's actually a violation of The Telecommunications Act. They have no right to interfere with your private network: http://tradeshowinternet.com/about/faq#exclusiveprovider Mike, may I suggest you interview Ian for one of the podcasts? He's..."

"Just ordered a second Virgin Mobile mifi device...connects up to 5 devices on a 3G network. Not extremely speedy, but unless anyone has media streaming, it's quite good! Jenise, for AV people like us, it's an easy, affordable and secure way to ensure you and your team have the access you need at all times. I've been able to provide for meeting planners and had a very grateful clie..."

"Cool Jenise! I also think that the increased influence of SM will lead to more socialized events, where offline meetings *must* accomodate the fluid networking experienced in our online activity. This will, in turn, lead to transformations of the physical spaces where we gather. (Think: flexible meeting spaces, outdoor gathering spots, etc.). Finally, we will see an uptick in the technolo..."

"Kristen, that's an interesting...whenever I'm onsite at MPI events there are almost immediate responses to concerns or questions - you guys do a bang up job with this!! I remember during the MPI MeetDifferent in Atlanta event when we couldn't hear in the back of the room. A couple of people tweeted about it. Problem fixed, pronto. Happy, satisfied sponsors whose messaging was now be..."

"Hello Angela! I've used polleverywhere.com for the last 2 years for about 15 clients and personal presentations. The service is almost unflappable! My best use so far has been to enable voting from a global audience for an event that I webcasted for PCMA, by utilizing SMS, Twitter and web-based voting. The pricing is super reasonable and they allow you to change your payment plan on a..."

"Great news! Looks like our first book to read is "Brains on Fire." If you've already read the book, outstanding. You're one step ahead of those of us who haven't. Our next step will be reading then discussing the book, most likely during the usual Friday Watercooler chat. I will announce the exact date and time next week. And if you can't join us for the chat, hopefu..."

"Oh gosh no!!!! I'll post the book we'll be reading early next week and we have at least a few weeks to read before discussion. Please join us and let others know too. Chris and Jenise are creating a page just for us "book nerds" (haha Melanie!)."

"If you have a book to recommend for our informal virtual book club, please suggest it here. I'll set up a poll to begin voting Friday, 10/15, for our first read. I'll compile votes over next week and let everyone know. We'll have 2-3 weeks (is this enough?) to complete and then gather for our first chat. Depending on the number of people anticipated to participate (haha) I'll ..."

"Trey I don't know what the format will be for your event, but if you're not worried about the best in production quality, Skype or ooVoo should be fine. Another option that allows multiple presenters is omNovia. Either way, you'll want to have a conversation with your AV team so they know how to accomodate the audio and video feeds. There might be additional costs to consider with..."

"Awesome! I totally agree with both of you. I see a few ways we could do this. One would be to compile a list of suggested books and then the community votes on their favorites. We then rank those in order of preference. The results will dictate the order for reading. Or, we could just randomly choose one per month from a community generated list. To discuss the book, we could give the perso..."

"I use Sonic Foundry for a number of the events we produce and supply. I will be using their platform for a hybrid PCMA event I'm producing this Fall. Highly recommend them...but there are a few things to know about. Happy to answer any questions you might have about the system :-) Midori Connolly, Chief AVGirl"

"Hi Coleen! As the AVGirl, I'd be happy to try to help :-) First, what existing AV setup do you have for the conference? # cameras, audio feeds, lighting, etc Will you be using UStream to broadcast the Update? If so, are you using Producer or Producer Pro? Do you have any multimedia that accompanies the presentation (ie PowerPoint/video/etc.)? This will at least get me started with..."

"Hello fellow E365 peeps! I have been watching free webcasts on the Brighttalk platform for the last year or so and I highly recommend joining to watch. This week is the "Microblogging Summit",  a GREAT way to garner some Twitter knowledge and see how you can adapt for events (eg "How to Leverage Twitter", "Twitter is not Just About Cheese Sandwiches"). "I like the idea of DoubleDutch - but one challenge that always arises with white label social networks/platforms is the struggle to keep up with multiple platforms...does anyone else experience this or hear this complaint? I get it frequently. And it's great that DoubleDutch is integrated with other platforms...but then doesn't that kind of eliminate the privacy of the network? Hmmm..."

"Brandon! Is! Brilliant! Love his ideas and for being so generous in sharing said ideas.I feel so reassured as a speaker that I am staying my course in insisting that attendees mingle and talk to one another AND ME - even though some of said attendees say that it is "disorganized" and I am "unseasoned and off-track" for taking questions as they come instead of reading my slides one after another..."

"The thing about Foursquare is that it is a selective sharing. Your location is not wantonly shared with everyone. It actually requires you to check in before anyone knows where you're at. Additionally, pushing the information to Twitter or Facebook is optional and not something you have to do. As someone who has had a run-in with a mild cyber stalker, I will say it's no fun. But it wasn't enoug..."

"Sue, a very easy way to do this is to create a PowerPoint and use that as your teleprompter. You can use a wireless slide advancer (sheesh, technological terms do NOT lend themselves to grammatical wizardry), or the timer function in PowerPoint so you don't have to visibly reach for a mouse or mousepad when you want to advance a slide. For Mac users, I suggest Presentation Prompter. You can eith..."

"In most meetings that involve confidential information, attendees are required to sign confidentiality agreements. They could just be modified to specifically include verbiage about social media.I agree with Matt, it's almost impossible to prevent leaks...that's part of human interaction. We like to talk :-)"

"Jeff, that's exactly the type of idea I had imagineered (heehee) for a few of our clients! My concept was based on a modern version of a press box. Although typewriters and telephones are replaced by laptops and blackberries, the idea is still the same; enable your "press" (which is a shifting definition) to get the word out about your event and content pronto!"
