I've been working with non profits for 25 years in Australia and Ireland.

My particular passion is working with arts and homeless organisations to develop learning and performance cultures.

I particularly want to help to capture the informal, chaotic, tacit and often creative learning that happens in workplaces that can't be controlled through instruction based learning.

I also have a personal and professional delight in social media tools, online learning, open source, gorgeous design, and making all of this acccessible to small to medium non profits.

In the last 2 years I have been working with a national Irish charity [Depaul Ireland] to develop SKIL2 ... an online learning space that will help engage workers to share all the informal and amazing learning that is stored within the workplace and rarely gets shared on a larger scale.

I want to use an open source LMS/CMS as the SKIL2 platform and then integrate social media tools that will enable workers to engage, communicate and challenge each other about excellent work practice.

We have a SKIL2 Team of senior managers and managers who I have been working with to help understand social media and how we can use the tools to create a really organic online learning space.

We have also been working on engagement and buy in strategies and how we will integrate SKIL2 into existing systems and processes.

The SKIL2 Team is brilliant and really really love what SKIL2 could make possible.

I am exploring options regarding working with third level institutions to build the SKIL2 prototype in 2010.

I also have invited top people in their fields to be SKIL2 mentors and supporters as I know I don't have all the skills to make SKIL2 happen.

Ultimately SKIL2 will be a tool to help develop workers confidence and competence to deliver the best quality services to the people they serve.

And I've been doing most of the work probono as I truly believe that I can develop SKIL2 as an online learning tool that will be Beautiful + Practical + Affordable to small and medium non profits ... who really can't afford to have an lms built for them.
