I've been designing, organizing, and facilitating conferences for thirty years. I create Conferences That Work—self-organizing peer conferences that adapt to attendees' needs, and that include opportunities for personal and group reflection and development.

My book Conferences That Work: Creating Events That People Love was published in November 2009.

I am a former elementary particle physicist, information technology consultant, professor of computer science, and co-owner of a solar manufacturing company. I live with my wife Celia in Marlboro, Vermont, am active in the non-profit world, and love to sing and dance.
