What if Engage365 Shut Down?

Thursday, July 15 at 12:14PM

Tell us what you think... what if we we did shut down Engage365.

  • What would you miss?
  • What did we do well?
  • What could we have done better?

I would miss everything - the great blog content, the intelligent and helpful community members and discussions, the networking. I think you've done a phenomenal job of building a niche community of professionals sharing insight and experiences on social media for events. Don't know of anyplace else like this that exists.

Please don't shut it down!

I would miss the tips I get from reading the conversations. I love that I can quickly gain insights that I can put into action for my organization. I agree with Kari that you've done a phenomenal job of building a specific community, and please don't shut it down!

This group offers a different perspective and different voices.  I like being part of different groups for that reason - the wisdom that is shared is appreciated!

Kari and Jill --- no worries. Engage365 is not going anywhere (referrring to my article "Engage365 Shutting Down")

FYI -- We have a bookstore in the works and working on a better resource center.

Anything else you think would help the community, the web site? Please chime in now.

I know I haven't been a frequent contributor but I lurk often and absorb the information that has been shared. In fact in the management and ideas for Chris Brogan coming to Madison I tapped into collected wisdom for fresh ideas on what I could do.

For the next event that I am trying to make happen in Madison, Disney Institute, I am stretching my boundaries to use more ideas and also help Disney Institute better use social media as a test city.

For the Next event - Social Media Tools Week, I have been assigned the project management role based on the work I have done on my prior events.

I could not have done this without my connection to Engage365 and the hard work that you Chris as manager and contributors have done to share value in the system. This is how the system is supposed to work.

Long Live Engage365! Man... Chris you had me there for second. I have numerous contacts on Engage365 and use it frequently for information re: SM for events and event marketing. I refer people to it all the time and they find it useful. Keep up the great work and great content!

Chris - I've appreciated the diverse group of professionals and the wisdom and expereince everyone brings to the table. I especially enjoy the water cooler chats.

Is it possible to make it easier to engage and interact with everyone?  For example, it would be nice to have a search feature by keywords, location, interests, etc.  Or maybe I just don't understand the technology as it exists now.

Thanks for asking!!

Hi Jeff -

The community section of Engage365 is built on our Conference 2.0(tm) social networking solution.

To help with interacting, it has matchmaking "tags" and a full search that allows members to search for people by name or tag. As well, you can share conversations with others (all of the members or subset "tag."  Conversations can be one to one or group. Just like this thread.

That said, is it the best technology solution for making it easier to interact? That depends on what one is looking for.

Not sure if this answers your question completely, but If you have time, you might be interested in learning more about the community section of Engage365 by joining Sean Lawler in our 30-40 minute Webinar on Conference 2.0(tm) on Wednesday, Aug 4th at 12pm Eastern. Register at the link below:

Let me confirm Chris's confirmation that Engage365 is here to stay.    While the Omnipress team works hard at this, there are many contributing to its success.   The community we have built, are building, and specifically the people, are amazing.   We have only just begun.

One of the first goals in getting a community site going is to get your thought leaders - speakers, experts, talkers - ENVOLVED...to get the party started.  We have done that.   Now, we want to share what we all know.   Social media works...it connects, it educates, it helps events and organizations reach new levels.

How can you help?

Referrals are our measure of success.  We are near 1,000 members – what about  2,000 or 5,000 or can we get to 10,000?  We have logged over 20,000 visitors.   Be Engaged and Share with your association, non-profit, for-profit and meeting planner colleagues Engage365.org.   Introduce it to your Executive Director, CEO, COO, CFO (yes, bean counts can see the value too...I did).

They will learn from Maddie, Lindy, Beth, Judy, Corbin, David, Jeff, Jordan, Jenny and the list is growing.  Have them watch and listen to some of the stories we'll be sharing from our customer who are achieving real ROI, ROE, new attendees, sell out events, new meaningful, valuable ways to connect.

Will you give Engage365.org a referral to your key peps?
